About Bookstar

Who Am I?

The Bookstar Bindery workshop

Hello! My name is Margot, and I am a bookbinder.

I wanted to be a bookbinder ever since I was 14, when I learned that bookbinding was indeed a job - a job that associates my love of books and reading with my love of working with my hands and being creative.

Four years later, I started studying at the Tolbiac School of Book Arts, located in the centre of Paris.
After three years, I graduated and got a job at a small but successful and highly reputed workshop in London, where I worked for over seven years under the mentorship of Cathy Robert.

In Paris, I learned classical bookbinding and gold tooling; the way bookbinding has been for hundreds of years, and I have used those skills to create award-winning fine binding.
In London, I learned modern bookbinding the way it had to evolve to survive by creating portfolios, boxes and menus for high end clients.

At Bookstar, I combine both classic and modern techniques to hand-craft unique and bespoke products using a wide range of the finest materials to suit the key occasions that matter to you and your family.
Bookbinding is my passion and I can’t wait to bring your ideas to life, so have fun creating your perfect book with the Bookstar website!

What Can I Do For You?

Margot at work

The Bookstar website enables you to create your book in an easy and fun way. You can play around with styles, materials, colors and fonts until you find the right combination.

If I don’t have exactly what you have in mind do not hesitate to contact me as I would happily seek other materials or colors until I find the one you are looking for.
If you want a specific size I can also make that happen.

You can also get in touch if you have your own fabric that you would like me to use so we can discuss the possibilities!

Any idea is a good one, and I would do my best to make it a reality!
